Tell a Story in 7 photos or less

After shooting these and viewing them on my computer I was a little bummed at the composition. I think a shot with more negative space would be better, it feels a little crowded to me. Also the transition into the last picture isn't quite as dynamic as I had hoped, although I'm not really sure what should have been done differently to achieve it. Next time I will take more time to think through what I want it to look like before shooting!

This would be a tough assignment for me. Love the first 3 photos and I think you're on the right track with your thought about adding more negative space. Still a great attempt in my opinion and it certainly tells a joyful story!:)

Roxley,

As far as a building dynamic and conclusion, this story really did have me going - especially the narrowed focus on the feet. It peeked my curiosity (are they kissing? is the pavement hot on their bare feet? what are they trying to reach?) right till the end. Ah, candy!

Now I am imagining your series again, with tighter and wider alternating shots to enhance the "hook" and an alternate ending to reveal a cherry tree, with fruit just out of reach....

My son has a set of foam rubber (nerf-like) num chucks that our neighbor has twice had to help retreive from our walnut tree in the back yard. This is making me think of how many great stories I let go untold, when I should be grabbing the camera. Thanks for making me think more creatively.

ps: are you gonna eat your tots?

Hmmm I love the series- the toning, the story, the tip toes and the suprise at the end. After reading your reflection I went back and thought about what I would suggest.

Maybe to take out #4 and then a real close up of the last one with the lollipop at an intersecting point-rule of thirds or you moving back a bit more and getting the whole shot with negative space on right- including their feet for the last one-just giving us a look also at the top. If that makes sense.

Great work.

I thought this was great...I love how the boys feet move in the two photos...You have us believing he's getting lots of kisses.
